As part of the Clydebuilt Festival, two FOCCR crews braved the long row from Dumbarton Castle to Finneston Crane. The race start was indicated by cannon fire and followed a route which took the crews under the Erskine Bridge, past shipbuilding docks, the tall ship Glenlee, the turbine steamer Queen Mary & the paddle steamer the Waverley; rowing to a finish at the iconic Glasgow Science Centre & Transport Museum. The row, into the wind and against the current, felt like “rowing in concrete”. The welcome roars of encouragement from our FOCCR Fans spurred the crews on for the last leg and triumphantly took them across the finish line. Celebrations started early with one crew reportedly seen sipping Prosecco on their return down stream…Two FOOCR crew rowed with Annan CRC and crossed the line in 3 hrs 51 mins. A brilliant event.
